He is best known for hosting (34 years) the children's television show "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" (also wrote, executive produced and composed). At the beginning of each episode, he slipped on his sneakers and signature cardigan and sang "Won't You Be My Neighbor", before taking a trolley tour through the Kingdom of Make Believe to greet his friends (both human and puppet). As well, he appeared on such television shows as "Butternut Square" (Mr. Rogers), "Mister Rogers" (Mr. Rogers - also composer) and "The Children's Corner" (also co-produced and composed). As an author, he wrote such books as "You Are Special", "Let's Talk About It: Adoption" and "Mister Rogers' Play Time". He died of stomach cancer.
