He was an actor who appeared in the movie "That Night!" and on the television show "The Edge of Night" (Willie Saffire). He was probably most well-known, however, for the voices he portrayed. He was the voice of Bluto in numerous "Popeye" movies, the spokesperson and voice of Cesar, Jr. on the Little Cesar Pizza commercials (for over 20 years), portrayed the title character on the syndicated radio show "Philo Vance" and was the person who introduced the "Superman" episodes on radio and television during the 1940s and 1950s.
